Teaching Philosophy

Students bring with them a unique perspective on the world and their own individual strengths and challenges. First and foremost, my job as an educator is to learn about each student’s individual strengths and needs, interests and motivations, and cultural and linguistic background to help me  develop curriculum based instruction that is accessible. It is my goal as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, is stimulating, invites the sharing of thoughts and ideas through a non-judgmental atmosphere so that the students can grow, explore, and mature intellectually, emotionally, and socially. I also believe that as a special educator, I need to be an advocate for all individuals with disabilities and always promote the principles which value and respect the rights of students with disabilities to experience positive personal and academic growth. Every student has a right to fully access the curriculum, be challenged, and be given the opportunities to reach his or her fullest potential.
